La Locanda stands on a plateau 600 mts above sea level in the most beautiful part of Chianti. Surrounded by vineyards, woods and olive groves, it overlooks Volpaia, a magnificent medieval village facing Radda in Chianti.
The owners, Guido and Martina, had always dreamt of running a charming small hotel and, after 20 successful years in international banking, they decided to take the plunge. Tuscany was the natural choice and when they saw this abandoned 16th century farmhouse, it was a case of love at first sight.
Guido and Martina converted La Locanda into a charming estate with the relaxed atmosphere of a very comfortable country house. In the big house there are six double rooms and a suite, each with private bathroom. The nearby former stables now house the sitting room with a large fire place, library with bar and dining room, leading to a large sunny terrace and a swimming pool, offering breath-taking views on Volpaia and the campagna.
All this makes La Locanda the perfect retreat after visiting Chianti Classico cellars, a walk through the woods or a hard day’s sightseeing in nearby Florence, Siena, Arezzo or San Gimignano.
